Newell is a mystical hidden island that no one, other than its inhabitants, is aware of as it is invisible to the human eye. It is situated near the location of The Mariana Trench in the western North Pacific Ocean - the deepest part of the world's oceans. If the Earth's inhabitants knew about the Island of Newell and wanted to go there they would have to enter through a gateway at the water's surface with a special code. The terrain of Newell is beautiful, with gentle-flowing rivers and cascading waterfalls and a soft dewy mist over most of the island. There is one large river, The Serene, that all the other rivers and streams flow into. The water possesses special healing qualities.The island is ruled by a family of unicorns. Each of the five unicorns has a horn made of crystal and together the five crystals hold immense power and magic that fuels the healing properties of the islands water supply. There also exists a small dry, desert-like area on the island that is cut off from the water supply and where dark magic is practiced. It is here in the Dark Dunes that the evil Black Dragon resides, in its dark shape-shifting form. One day Prince Faden, the unicorn prince, wanders too close to the Dark Dunes and is captured by the Black Dragon, who removes his horn. In doing so the water on the island slowly dries up and the combined magic of the crystals disappears. Twins, Jacob and Arielle, are transported separately to Newell with the help of a mystical creature, Omegas, the winged unicorn. Once there they find out about the plight of the unicorn family and then embark on a dangerous quest to rescue Prince Faden and retrieve the fifth crystal.This book is designed to be the first in a series of fantasy novels based on the adventures of Jacob and his twin sister, Arielle.
